How to Play
While picking numbers every week is one way to play, it’s not your only option. Let’s take a closer look at the different ways to play the game.
First, you have Easy Pick, which lets the computer choose six random numbers for you. You can also do a combination; you select some numbers, and the computer picks the rest.
You also can purchase Power Play. For an additional $1 per play, you can earn between two and 10 times more money if you win a non-jackpot prize. The Power Play can multiply your winnings by two, three, four, five or 10 times based upon the Power Play ball that is drawn in a given drawing. There are 24 2x balls, 13 3x balls, three 4x balls and 5x balls each and one 10X ball.
A Multi-draw play means you’re playing with the same numbers over and over again. You can play up to 26 times in a row with the same six numbers.
A Repeat play means you’re getting the same numbers repeatedly for one drawing. You can purchase the same numbers up to 20 times per drawing.
There are Game Machines in 1,500+ stores across Virginia that allow you to skip the checkout lines and get your Powerball tickets without the hassle of going to a cashier. You can also create a Virginia Lottery account and purchase your tickets online while you are anywhere in Virginia.
If I live in a state that taxes prizes, but bought my ticket in a state with no tax on prizes, do I still need to pay state tax?
Yes, you do. Think of lottery prizes as regular earned income from a job. Just because you may work in a different state, that doesn’t permit you to get away with not paying state income tax in your state of residence. The lottery works the same way.
Whether it’s income from a job or income from gambling, the state where the money is won will tax the prize first at their out-of-state tax rate (assuming the state taxes lottery winnings). If your state of residence has the same or lower tax rate, then you won’t owe anything else. But if your state has a higher rate, you will get a credit for what you paid in the other state, and pay the difference to your state.
If the other state has no tax, you just pay the entire tax bill to your state.
The net result is that you end up paying whichever tax rate is higher between your state of residence and the state where you purchased the ticket. Of course, the tax law is quite complex and it’s possible that some condition or arrangement exists between the two states and a good tax attorney and/or accountant could discover a tax-saving loophole. That’s why we always recommend that major prize winners do not make any major decisions before first hiring a good legal and financial team.
One other option to consider, depending on how much in taxes you’re looking to save: the residency requirements as they relate to prize claims, state taxes, and income reporting. Since you aren’t responsible for paying taxes until you claim the prize, perhaps there is time to establish residency in the state where you purchased the ticket before the prize claim period expires. However, that is something you would definitely need to explore with an attorney before taking any action to assess the feasibility. You would also need to decide if it would be worth the risk of that important little piece of paper not getting lost, damaged, or destroyed in the time you spend arranging everything.

To win the Powerball Jackpot, you need to match all five white balls in any order, as well as the red Powerball.

Why is the cash option different than the advertised jackpot?
The Powerball jackpot is an estimated 29-year annuity value, with a total 30 payments (the first payment happens right away, followed by 29 annual payments). When players choose
the annuity option for their prize, the state lottery pays the prize out over 29 years (30 payments) by
buying U.S. Government Treasury Securities, which earn interest and mature annually over
the 29 years. That annual return is the amount the winners receive each year for the
29 year period. With the cash option, the state lottery will take the amount of
money that would have been invested and will pay it directly to the winner in one
payment. Both payment options have federal and applicable state taxes deducted
from them, although with an annuity option you pay taxes gradually on each annual payout, not all at once like with the cash option.
Can I play Powerball in the UK
Yes. There are a number of online providers which allow you to play Powerball from the UK. Some use a concierge service where a person in the USA will go out and physically buy your ticket for you. That ticket will then be scanned and put into your account online so you can see that it has been bought. Others will take a «bet» from you against that lottery. No ticket is physically purchased but you will be paid out the same as if you had actually bought the ticket (the betting companies take out expensive insurance to cover the eventuality of somebody winning). Both types of company are heavily regulated to make sure they will pay out, so your entry money is safe.
How to Play Powerball
Powerball draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday evening, with players required to select five main numbers between 1 and 69 and one Powerball from 1 to 26.
There is also the option to select Power Play for an additional fee. A Power Play number of either 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 is drawn before the main game and non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by that amount. The exception is the second-tier prize of US$1 million, which is capped at US$2 million no matter which multiplier is drawn. The 10x Power Play can only be selected when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less.
Players can win prizes just by matching the Powerball, while the jackpot is given away if anyone matches all five main numbers plus the Powerball. The top prize starts at $40 million and rolls over when it is not won.
U.S. players can buy tickets from retailers in authorised participating states or, in certain states, take part online. Powerball fans from outside the U.S. are able to win all the same prizes by choosing numbers online through sites such as Jackpot.com. Rather than buying tickets, it is a case of betting on the results, and you just have to select your game, pick your numbers and decide how many lines to enter.

History & Biggest Jackpots
Powerball was first drawn in April 1992, having developed from an earlier game called Lotto*America. More states joined over the years and in 2010 Powerball and Mega Millions reached an agreement in which state lotteries could offer tickets for both games as opposed to one or the other.
Jackpots were originally only paid as an annuity spread over 20 years, but in 1997 that changed to 25 years and the option was added to take a reduced cash lump sum. The annuity currently stands at 30 payments over 29 years.
Powerball often creates huge jackpots, the biggest of which was $1.58 billion, shared by David Kaltschmidt and Maureen Smith (claiming under the Nickel 95 Trust) from Florida, Tennessee’s John and Lisa Robinson, and Marvin and Mae Acosta from California, on Wednesday 13th January 2016. Each of the winning tickets received $528.8 million, or a cash payment of $327.8 million.
Another record was set on 23rd August 2017, this time for the largest jackpot won on a single ticket, when Mavis Wanczyk from Massachusetts scooped $758.7 million. She came forward the very next day, having already quit her job as a hospital worker.
Упражнения с кистевым эспандером Powerball
Power Play is an add-on feature that allows players to multiply their non-jackpot prizes, for just $1 more per play! With Power Play, players can win $2 million for matching the five white balls or multiply his/her other non-jackpot prizes two to five times when the advertised jackpot is over $150 million, and up to 10 times when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. A player must choose the Power Play option on his/her POWERBALL playslip or tell the retailer that he/she wishes to purchase a Power Play ticket. The multiplier number will be selected just before the draw.

If funds are insufficient to pay set prizes, non-jackpot prizes maybe paid on a pari-mutuel basis and could be lower than the amount shown.
How to Win
Prior to the official POWERBALL drawing conducted by MUSL, a Power Play multiplier number (between 2 and 5; 10 is included when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less) is selected and will be displayed during the draw, in which five out of 69 numbers (white balls) and a Powerball number between 1 and 26 (red ball) will be drawn at random. There are nine ways to win POWERBALL prizes by matching the winning numbers drawn in the official drawing for the date played. Match all five numbers plus the Powerball to win the jackpot or match any of the non-jackpot-winning combinations to win other great cash prizes!
All POWERBALL prizes are set payouts, except the jackpot. The jackpot prize will be shared among winners in all POWERBALL states. The jackpot will be paid in 30 annual payments or a one-time cash payment of a reduced amount. If there is no jackpot winner, the money in the jackpot pool rolls over to the next POWERBALL drawing.
All POWERBALL prizes must be claimed in the state where the ticket was purchased. POWERBALL prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the winning drawing date. Federal income taxes will be withheld from POWERBALL prizes as required by the Internal Revenue Code at the time payments are made. Any additional federal, state and/or local taxes shall be the responsibility of the winner. Prizes of up to $1 million may be claimed at a Florida Lottery district office. Prizes of more than $1 million must be claimed at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. Read more about claiming Lottery prizes.
There exists proven mathematical strategies for increasing your odds of winning prizes in any lotto game.
The most successful technique for beating the lottery is “number wheeling”. Number wheeling significantly improves your chances of winning multiple prizes in every game you enter.
Although a strategy does not exist that can show you how to guarantee a jackpot win there are strategies available that can increase your chances of winning a jackpot prize enough to make playing in a syndicate a really good idea. You will definitely increase your chances of winning medium and small prizes by playing as a part of a syndicate that wheels its numbers.
Lottery syndicates win more often simply because they have more buying power to wheel more numbers. Syndicates that do not wheel their numbers have no more chance of winning than an individual player does though. So your syndicate must wheel their numbers.
The more numbers you wheel, the higher your chances of winning prizes but the more tickets you will need to buy.
So that is why it is always a good idea to join a syndicate or start your own.
These powerful powerball strategies have been proven to work consistently and if used correctly can increase your chances of winning multiple times in multiple games on a consistent basis.
Once you are in a syndicate start by identifying a large amount of hot numbers from which you will pick a selection of numbers to play. The cost for entries will depend of the “wheel” you are using which in turn depends on the amount of hot numbers you choose.
The more numbers you wheel the better. More numbers wheeled means your odds will increase.
Have your syndicate members pool their ticket money together and wheel your numbers to guarantee you win. Keep your numbers and play them on a consistent basis. When you learn how to wheel you will know how to win powerball prizes on a consistent basis. So learn to do it now!
How to Win Powerball Prizes Using 1 Weird Technique
So, what is the one simple but weird technique for winning the lottery?
It is number wheeling and it works!
Try it out for yourself and you’ll be amazed at how much more “lucky” you get.

The Powerball Prizes
There are 9 prize divisions in total in the US Powerball. The top prize begins at a mouth-watering $40 million and it only goes up from there. In fact, the Powerball was the first lottery to ever pass the $1 billion threshold. In 2016, it has set the world record for the largest prize ever awarded with its $1.58 billion pot. But there are 8 more reasons for you to play Powerball. One of them is the second prize is worth a full $1 million, and if you play with the Power Play multiplier, you can make it worth $2 million. Even if you only match the Powerball number, you can still win the complimentary 9th prize, which is worth $4.00, and that can get as high as $40.00 with Power Play.
The Power Play Multiplier
The US Powerball offers a multiplier called Power Play, which is an optional feature that can increase the prizes in the game 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. You have to pay an additional $1.00 fee to add the multiplier to your ticket, but it can take your winnings to new heights. The Power Play number is drawn from a separate barrel during the Powerball draw. The multiplier does not apply to the Powerball jackpot, it only increases the secondary prizes in the game. It can double the $1 million second prize and it can increase the other prizes in the game 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. When the jackpot is below the amount of $150 million, a 10x Power Play number is also entered in the game.
How to Win Powerball
Now that you have your tickets, it’s time to wait for the twice-weekly drawings to see if your Powerball numbers come up. How do you win Powerball?
If you’ve matched all five numbers plus the Powerball number, you win the current jackpot. Congratulations! It’s important to note, however, that the Power Play multiplier doesn’t apply to jackpot wins.
According to Powerball rules, if you match five numbers but miss the Powerball, you can win $1 million (if you do not purchase Power Play) or $2 million (if you do purchase Power Play). Note that the Power Play multipliers do not apply here. Selecting Power Play just increases your win from $1 million to $2 million.
Without Power Play, four numbers plus the Powerball number wins $50,000. With Power Play, you can win between $100,000 and $250,000. Without the Powerball, matching four numbers wins between $100 and $500 — the same amount you’ll win if you match three balls and the Powerball.
Three balls by themselves, or two balls and the Powerball, wins between $7 and $35. One ball plus the Powerball or the Powerball by itself wins between $4 and $20.
If the annuity jackpot is equal to or more than $150 million, the 10x Power Play ball is removed from the drawing.
Picking Your Numbers
Numbers that show up more frequently than other numbers are known as hot numbers.
Hot numbers are statistically more likely to come up in a winning line.
On the flip side those numbers that appear in winning lines less often are known as cold numbers.
Cold numbers are statistically less likely to come up in a winning line.
So, to give yourself a statistically higher chance of picking numbers that will come up in the winning line simply avoid cold numbers and choose your picks from the hot numbers.
How do you do this?
You simply look up your powerball official site for the hot and cold numbers.
Hot and cold numbers are only half the story of how to win at powerball though.
Most lottery players will simply choose random numbers for their picks.
Of course many players use significant dates or numbers that seem in some way special to them or that stand-out. They look for “signs” such as a repeating number that comes up consistently such as the number on a bus they see is the same as the number on a door they notice that matches a registration on a vehicle that caught their eye etc. This is probably more to do with selective attention than any mystical, Godly or universal intervention though.
Picking random numbers in any lotto game is useless and choosing your numbers based on their “significant” meanings will give you no added advantage of other players.
However there are certain sequences of numbers that are very unlikely to be drawn and so to give yourself a fighting chance in a lotto draw you should avoid those numbers that are less likely to come up in the winning line.
Once you’ve decided on a method for choosing your numbers you still have work to do. There is more you need to do to win the powerball after you have your chosen numbers.
Once you have picked your selection you must then wheel those numbers!
So How do You Win Powerball Prizes Consistently?
The key to winning on any game that is based on probability, such as any lottery game, is to devise a system that gives you the maximum number of chances of winning by using the laws of probability instead of letting them work against you.
Sounds pretty obvious I know but bear with me while I get a little technical and fully explain this concept (when it comes to actually playing using the system I am showing you don’t actually need to know the Math but it is good to understand how it works so you aren’t just relying on faith but can see the science at work).
The lottery, contrary to popular belief, is not really a game of luck. At least it is not just based purely on luck. You see the lotto is really a game that has a very solid foundation within the mathematics of probability.
Although the concept of probability is straight-forward and fairly easy to understand it can be a stretch and difficult for some people to understand the mechanics used to manipulate it. There is good news though.
The good news is that if you want to know how to win powerball prizes, or learn how to win the lottery in general, you do not need to understand the mechanics of manipulating probability – you just need to know how to use the mathematics of probability to your advantage!
